Dear Very Special Hearts,

The same day I received my heart and set up my health history, this heart SAVED MY LIFE!!! I was admitted to our area hospital in crisis and your heart got me admitted without delay. Doctors and nurses were able to get all the info needed and, after being close to death, were able to bring me back.

God bless you all & thank you for this amazing blessing of this heart!!!

Dear Very Special Heart,

…In January 2010, I saw an article on Facebook, and also I saw something in a magazine at the doctor’s office about a heart device with a USB attached. This device would be able to contain your complete profile, your medical history and everything you would need for an emergency. I thought ‘this is great’! It would be much better than a bracelet and it could save my life! Especially if I had another stroke and was unconscious or couldn’t talk.

On February 5th, 2010 I was having dizziness and numbness again on my left side. This time I was taken to The Florida Hospital Centre Care for blood and urine tests. I gave them my Very Special Heart™, they plugged it into the computer, pulled up my Emergency Medical Information Page and found out that I had suffered strokes in the past. The device also had my MRI’s, my CT scans, my blood test results and all the updated information that I needed. The Doctor recommended that I be seen at the Emergency Room at Florida Hospital for further evaluation.

The next day I went to the Emergency room at Florida Hospital and I advised the Nurse’s that I may have suffered another min-stroke the previous day. I also advised them that I had my Very Special Heart™ with me and that it contained all my medical information and previous medical issues.

They told me that they were aware of my device and had heard about it. I gave it to them and they were able to look at my medications, previous CT scans and MRI’s- which was good. I had another CT scan and it showed that I suffered a small mini stroke (very small one). They were able to compare it to the other scans that I carry on my Very Special Heart™.

There is no doubt in my mind, that my Very Special Heart™ device saved my life twice this year. I just updated it again with the new medications that were given to me by my cardiologist this week. Next week I will enter the blood tests results that I had 2 weeks ago. I even added additional documents, just in case; my will, my family history, and my emergency contact information. I even added my girlfriend, Marie’s Personal Health Record to my Very Special Heart™ Device. She was fascinated by this device and never knew it existed. I showed it to her on the computer and she loved the idea!

I am a Worship Leader at First Baptist Orlando and many others in my Choir group have medical issues. Two of them have suffered a stroke. I told them about my Very Special Heart™ Device and they liked the idea of having one – just in case. I show it to everyone when I get a chance. I sometimes volunteer at ORMC to help stroke victims and I tell them about my Very Special Heart™; that I carry it everywhere I go and that it may save their life one day.

My Journey begins again with a brighter future knowing that I carry my Very Special Heart™ Device. I pray each day for others; that they may have be lucky enough to receive a Very Special Heart™ Device and to know that it may save their life.

My life was saved twice from this device and I even sleep with it around my neck.
Just in case…….

God Bless you all for inventing it.

Dear Very Special Hearts,

My son was born at 24 weeks weighing 1lb 9oz. He spent 227 days in the NICU before coming home with many issues. He was on oxygen 24/7, was g tube fed around the clock and was on an apnea monitor. Just five short days after coming home from such a long stay, Ashton was readmitted and ended up ventilated again. At this time his g tube was switched to a gj tube for feeds and even now has horrible “blue spells” that, to this day, have not been diagnosed.

Now, at 4.5 years old, Ashton continues with struggles in life and is constantly at the hospital. In June of 2007 he had a cochlear implant placed as we found out in September 2006 that he was profoundly deaf. In January 2007 we found out that he was legally blind and therefore needed glasses. Just shortly after receiving this Heart to review, Ashton was admitted to the ICU for a trial of bipap as he has severe sleep apnea. Unfortunately on his third night he coded twice, both times requiring CPR. This led to him having a tracheotomy done on December 11th.

During this time, A Very Special Heart™ has been a wonderful thing for me. Each time we meet a new doctor or end up in hospital I am always asked over and over about his history, medical conditions, surgeries, medications, vaccinations, feeds, hospital stays and other doctors that he sees. It has been very convenient to be able to just hand over the heart with all of his information without me having to go constantly over it.

…For Kids, this is especially nice because there is also a place for their vaccination schedule.

…I highly recommend this heart to all families. Having it gives me the peace of mind of knowing that all possible information is there and best of all – it’s always around my neck in case of an emergency!
